How to make good iced tea?

I don’t have anything fancy like an “iced tea maker” or even a coffee maker. When we make coffee, it’s always just the instant kind. So how do I make good iced tea without using any of the above machines?

I have ordinary lipton tea bags (not family sized ones). Do I make the tea hot first, and then put in the freezer to cool or do I put the bags in cool water? Also, when I go to restaurants and I order iced tea, they give it to me without sugar and then give me a small pitcher of a syrup looking thing. I think it’s just liquid sugar kind of, but it’s thick. How do they make that? or do they just buy it? If you can make that thick sugary syrup at home, how?

Thanks :)

I’ll do the second part first, as that’s the shorter explanation.

The stuff they give you is called “simple syrup”. Regular sugar doesn’t dissolve well in cold liquids.
To make it:
1 cup plain sugar
1 cup cold water
mix in a sauce pan and bring to a boil
simmer for 3-5 minutes
let cool
put into a container (I use a condiment bottle, like a Ketchup squeeze bottle) and put in fridge.

As to the tea. I use loose tea, but tea bags will work fine. I used to use a Mr Coffee Iced Tea Maker, but got tired of the plastic pitcher always cracking on the seam from the hot water. I now use a method I learned for Alton Brown on “Good Eats”.

You’ll need 2 containers that can hold 4 cups of liquid plus a 2 quart pitcher. I have a class and a plastic 4 cup measure.

Fill one container (for me, it’s the plastic measure) with room temperature water. Too cold water will force more particulates out of the hot tea (not bad, just not as pretty).

I boil water and put 4 cups in the glass measure with the tea (use 6-8 tea bags and steep for 5-7 minutes). If you don’t have a glass measure you could use a glass or metal bowl (glass is a better insulator, though)

Pour the hot tea into the pitcher and slowly add the 4 cups cooler water. If the pitcher is plastic or not designed for hot liquids, put the cooler water in first.

Put it in the fridge to chill. Add the simple syrup to taste in each cup or directly to the pitcher if no one will be drinking it unsweetened.

Problems with Mr. Coffee ice tea?

I recently purchased this product, which is great. But I'm having some problems with the addition of sugar. If I add Splenda to the basket at the top that works well and mix well. However, if I add regular sugar in the basket only groups and plugs and Tea is still remaining in the top of the basket. Why is this? No mind with Splenda, but it is more expensive than table sugar, so I would like use both to try to save some money. Any ideas on regualr sugar? Furthermore, the amount of sugar used for a pitcher of three quarters? I've been using about 1 / 2 cup.

You may not have sufficient time to dissolve sugar. Do you have a food processor? If so, pour some a cup of sugar in the processor, and let it turn for a few minutes. This, in turn, sugar, super fine sugar. Try it and see if it works! :) Do not use powdered sugar. There cornstarch added to make a mess what Slimey Good luck!

A scoop of vanilla ice cream or roasted garlic still offer classic flavors, but also cater to the adventurous palates with new combinations and flavors, some savory rather than sweet.

What is Green Mountain Coffee?

Pick the best coffee beans available all over the world, roast them to perfection, season with an advanced social conscience and a mission to help change the world, flavor with a very savvy sense of marketing and business and you might end up with one of the most successful specialty coffee businesses in the world. Ask the founders of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, the specialty coffee business that started as a small café in Waterbury, Vermont back in 1981 and recorded nearly $350 million in sales in fiscal 2007.

The road to success for Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has been a series of excellent business decisions coupled with right-place-right-time social policies. The Green Mountain label stands for excellent coffee combined with a mission to make a difference in the world. That mission imbues everything that the company does, from sourcing their coffees to point of sale and beyond – the company even uses recycled/recyclable packaging materials. Mission and social responsibility aside, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters owes its success to one factor – the amazing flavor.

The Green Mountain brand is built on high quality specialty coffees. The company began as a small café in Vermont, with a commitment to serving specialty coffees roasted on premises. It wasn’t long before restaurants and shops in town started asking to serve Green Mountain’s coffee. When skiers who had tried Green Mountain’s specialty coffees while on vacation started asking if they could order coffee and have it sent to their homes, the company added its mail order business, and things just grew from there. These days, you can buy Green Mountain Roasters specialty coffees in your supermarket or order it online, sign up for Café Express to have Green Mountain coffee delivered to you automatically, drink Green Mountain coffee at many of your favorite restaurants, and buy Green Mountain coffee pre-packed into Keurig K-cups – Green Mountain sells the most varieties of coffees in K-cups of any of the Keurig partners.

The connection with Keurig is not the first strategic market placement decision that’s paid off for Green Mountain. Many avid fans got their first taste of Green Mountain’s specialty roasts at a most unexpected place – local convenience stores like 7-11 and Store 24, Gas-n-Go shops and other on-the-run coffee pickup spots where the last thing you expect is excellent coffee. As the various convenience stores have expanded their repertoire to include self-service coffee bars – and the technology for making good coffee has improved – Green Mountain has often been the coffee served.

Who Is Green Mountain Coffee Roasters?

Why not ask the company themselves? According to their press releases:

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters was ranked No. 1 on the list of “100 Best Corporate Citizens” in 2006 and 2007, and has been recognized repeatedly by Forbes, Fortune Small Business, and the Society of Human Resource Management as an innovative, high-growth, socially responsible company.

Is the coffee really as good as all that? With the fastest growing sales in the industry, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters stands by quality as a watchword. They send coffee sourcers throughout the world to taste and test the crops at coffee plantations in Africa, Asia and South America, bringing back the best that they find. Unlike the biggest chains that must be able to buy in large enough volume to supply hundreds or thousands of stores with any variety they choose, Green Mountain has no issues with selling limited edition coffees, often as single origin coffees.

Green Mountain Coffee Sourcing

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is also popular with “socially conscious” consumers who love the company’s environmentally and community-friendly policies. The company makes every attempt to source directly from growers around the world, and is one of the leading buyers in the Fair Trade coffee market. Green Mountain buyers work directly with coffee growers whenever possible. It is their commitment to high quality coffee and improving the world that has spurred the roasting company’s success.

Favorite Green Mountain Coffee Blends

If you’ve never tried Green Mountain Coffee, one of the best ways to get a real feel for the brand’s variety of flavors is to order one of the company’s variety samplers. If you’d rather pick and choose your own sampler pack, here’s a list of all-time favorite Green Mountain Coffee Blends.

Breakfast Blend – The #1 all time favorite and best seller, lighter roast, rich taste and medium acidity

Nantucket Blend – Exotic blend, full-bodied with a hint of floral and fruit, bright acidity and complex flavor

Dark Magic – An extra bold dark roast specially blended and roasted for espresso

Wild Mountain Blueberry – Seasonal flavored coffee that has become one of Green Mountain’s most popular coffees ever

Making the perfect pot of coffee?

I was never a big coffee drinker , but drinking coffe alot , especially in the morning when I get up .. Here’s the situation. First off I buy Foldger’s Gourmet Special for coffee. I tried three flavors so far and right now trying carmel drip. I store my cofee in the freezer, people have told me to either store it in the fridge or freezer. Not sure if the freezer is the correct way to store it ? So I have a 4 cup coffee pot and not sure how many tablespoons of coffe to put in the filter. tried 4 to 6 tablespoons and then someone told me that it was too much! so added 2 tablespoons like suggested by the person ( cause I am using only a 4 cup coffee maker ) , buit the coffee was really weak. I went back to 4 tablespoons of coffee and can drink the coffee to a point , but really bitter and yucky tasting !!
Oh and I don’t use tap water I use spring water from a spring water.

- Best way to store coffee?

-How many tablespoons of coffee do I use for my small 4 cup cofee maker?

putting the coffee in the freezer is a good way to preserve the taste but keeping it in the cabinet is alright too it doesnt get bad tasting unless you leave it for a long time and dont use it.

you should use one teaspoon per cup of water plus a half teaspoon so for your coffee machine i would use 4 and a half teaspoons to make a full pot.

Guide to Single Serve Coffee Maker

For those wanting a quick cup of coffee or simply want one to take for the ride to work, a single serve coffee maker could be ideal. They are designed to brew one cup, eight or twelve ounces, at a time and most have an automatic shut off and no warming tray.

While prices vary from about $15.00 to almost a thousand dollars, longevity may be a determining factor, along with your budget, as to how much you spend. Features, color and design are determining factors to the cost of a single serve coffee maker.

Single serve coffee makers are fairly simple, and not much different than, a larger coffee maker to use and many accept pre-measured coffee pods eliminating the mess of coffee grounds. Although most cheaper models require the use of a paper filter, some contain a permanent filter and most will accept pods provided they fit into the holding area.

Travel mugs are available with many single serve coffee maker models, which flow the finished brew into an insulated mug to take on the road filled with freshly brewed, hot coffee. The automatic shut off feature on most, prevent the risk of an overheated unit starting a fire.

Many Uses For Heated Water

Single-serve meals often require the use of hot water and instead of heating it on a stove or in a microwave, a single serve coffee maker can make just the right amount of hot water for this use as well. Running water through a single serve coffee maker can also make a cup for tea.

There also the cup of noodles meals that require only a cup of hot water, which can sit, where the coffee cup would go on a single serve coffee maker and the hot water runs right into the cup, preparing a snack quickly and without fuss.

While the single serve coffee maker is not for everyone, especially for the person who may drink several cups quickly, they can be beneficial to those wanting a cup to take with them or those trying to reduce their intake of caffeine. By limiting the amount of coffee brewed at one time, they will have to keep making one cup at a time and probably reduce the number of cups they drink in a day.

Coffee pods available for a single serve coffee maker come in many flavors from different manufacturers, giving a person the option of having different types of coffee without a lot of waste if they find they are not particularly fond of one type.

If hot or cold water enters a coffee?

My wife and I are in total disagreement with this. I say that hot water should be placed in the machine as this is a load of heating elements and ultimately, saves electricity used to heat cold water to the contrary. My She says that cold water should be used hot water, because that would make entry into the elements that short because of the shorter heating time. My mother-in-law says we're stupid and we should not fight over it. She did not give a damn what kind of water gets there as long as there is a cup of coffee in it for her. We are using a 10-cup Bunn coffee. By the way, we asked that question to Bunn and refused to answer it. This is an issue where the stakes are high. If I am right, then she who must be obeyed wash and wax the car. If she is right, then I massage your feet with warm strawberry scented mineral oil. Who is right??

Always use cold water. The coffee maker heats the water at the perfect temperature and when hot water is used, this can not be done properly. Never use hot water tap has been sitting in his hot water tank is not suitable for drinking or use in the kitchen.

Javea Holidays – Real Spain and Holiday Resort in One Place

Spain is a popular holiday destination for UK tourists. Some of the resorts are very well-known such as Benidorm, but there are others that are equally good for a holiday. A few miles north of Benidorm lies the Costa Blanca holiday resort of Javea. The town lies in a large bay between the peninsulas of “La Nao” and “San Antoni” and is split into three areas, each with their own character and facilities.

The most popular area with holiday makers is the “Arenal” which is a beach set in a small bay within Javea bay. There are a couple of volleyball courts, palm trees, and enough shops, bars, and restaurants to ensure that you never need to leave the Arenal during your entire holiday in Javea if you don’t want to.

If you need something to eat or drink there is always something open around this beach. All through the day various bars and restaurants are open ranging from small coffee shops offering drinks, sandwiches and tapas (Spanish appetisers), to large restaurants offering full three-course meals, lunches, and cakes. The prices also vary offering something for every budget. A three course meal in Javea can cost anything from 7.99 Euros (£5.50 approx.) to 40 Euros (£28 approx.)

When evening falls the late bars and nightclubs begin to open, along with Javea’s famous craft stalls. The stalls attract people from all around the Northern Costa Blanca. Many of the items for sale are hand-made and not available in any of the local gift shops including, jewellery, clothing, ornaments, and accessories. Some of the stalls offer services such as hair-styling and personal caricatures.

This part of Javea is also where most of the holiday villas are with views over either the sea or the mountains and valleys around the town.

A short drive along the sea-front brings you to Javea Port. The road itself is only a few metres from the sea, and runs along the beach itself. There are a string of wooden beach bars spread along this road all the way to the port.

Javea port is the quiet holiday resort contrasting with the Arenal. The rocky sea-front is lined with bars, restaurants, and small intimate hotels. The port is overlooked by the cliffs of “San Antoni” and numerous luxury villas.

The port plays host to the Javea International Festival each year. This is usually a three day event and aims to bring together in one place people from all countries. During each evening there is music performed on the large outdoor stage. Each act represents each country taking part in the festival and ensures that the audience is treated to a night of constantly changing music and dancing.

For holiday makers that want to see what the real Spain is like, and not the Spain from the holiday brochures, a trip to the Old Town or “Pueblo” is a good idea. The old church and indoor market stand next to each other and are worth a visit, as well as exploring the narrow streets that criss-cross the town. Javea’s old town is also where the weekly market is held where you are sure to pick up a bargain or two.

If you enjoy beach holidays, but also want to experience some of the real Spain, then Javea can offer you the best of both worlds.

Is it justified to be expelled from a coffee shop because there are too many of "you" in there?

This morning I went to a cafe front of the bus transfer point for coffee, like I always do before school. The cafeteria is located on the ground floor of a hotel. By So I sit on a sofa with my coffee like I always do, and people over schools came close to mine because it was so cold today as it has been lately.
