Before there are Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaves, most of people in the region from Singapore and Malaysia know only kopi, a Baba Malay language for coffee. Kopi is basically robusta coffee. Espresso and cappuccino are coffee extravagant in the early days, meant for the rich, and is only available in hotels.

Today, a cup of coffee espresso or any other gourmet coffee still costs a few dollars, and a cup of kopi is only between 70 and 90 cents in Singapore.

I have not found a coffee maker that develops directly into a thermos-type cup. And although I found that I do not know if it will stay warm for 2.5 hours. I found a electric travel mug that heats the coffee with adatper railcars and thought about getting it. Question 1: Does anyone know of a thermos of coffee brewer, which keep your coffee warm for 2 hours. Question 1a: If not, someone knows if the electric cups work well?

A.C. load control. What is the cheapest diy heat element control.?

I have two heaters from popcorn makers for a total of 2640 watts. I need to vary the power from full on to full off, and I need to do it on the cheap. I plan on running them in parallel but I am not sure what difference it makes. This is going to be a DIY coffee roaster.

How do you plan on powering the device? In the US, the standard 120 V outlet is only rated for 15 amps.

2640 watts ÷ 120 volts = 22 amps

This is even too much for a 20 amp outlet.

Please update your question with the utilization voltage.

Here is an explanation of what happens if you connect the two in series. I will assume the two heating elements are exactly the same size.

2640 watts ÷ 2 elements = 1320 watts per element.

1320 watts ÷ 120 volts = 11 amps.

120 volts ÷ 11 amps = 10.9 ohms

Placing the two elements in series give you 10.9 Ω + 10.9 Ω = 21.8 Ω

The resulting current draw is 120 volts ÷ 21.9 Ω = 5.5 amps

120 volts x 5.5 amps = 660 watts.

How about wiring the equipment for 3-wire, 240 volt operation. Each heating element can be operated separately at 120 volts on opposite legs of the 120/240 V service . You can operate either one or both of the elements at a time. If you need more control over the power level, you could add a 120 volt, 15 amp diode to each element with a switch that would bypass the diode. With the diode in the circuit you would basically feed the element with a half-sine wave resulting in half power. Wiring both heating elements this way gives you the following control.

0 watts = everything off
660 watts = one element with diode
1320 watts = one element full power
1980 watts = one element full power, one element with diode
2640 watts = both elements full power

As a huge fan and collector of Hello Kitty products, I was amazed at just how many electronics there are that bear the logo of my favorite cat. This article will bring to your attention some of the neat items that you can collect that you may have never known existed. Trust me, I didn’t!

Hello Kitty, that cute little icon from Japan, has become a huge globally recognized symbol. It is easily identifiable and there is a good chance that you may have passed by an entire store, The Sanrio Store, dedicated to this icon in your local mall. Her image graces almost every type of product imaginable, but some of the items she is on were new to me, and they just may be new to you as well.

Here is a quick list of some of the Hello Kitty electronic items I discovered:

Sewing Machines – these appear to be more common than I though, but I had no idea that they made these. They seem like a great way to start a young child on learning to sew.

DVD Player – this one looks so cool, considering how hard it is to find a DVD player in pink. This player also plays MP3 CDs, so it is like two units in one!

Coffee Maker – there is only one version of this, but considering that I already have the toaster and the waffle maker, I just had to add this to my kitchen.

Electric Guitar – this one was new to me as well. There appear to be different styles of this guitar in a couple of colors (pink is one of the colors, of course!).

Vibrator – yes, I just had to mention it because I am a bit shocked. But there it is. Not sure why you would want this, but I guess it might complete your collection.

Alarm Clocks – there a few styles available, but I really like the one where she is in her bed.
